Take the reins of the “Iron Horse”! At the Throttle is coming back to the NC Transportation Museum this spring. The program is a unique opportunity for rail fans to live their dream of running a steam locomotive. Most Saturdays in March and April you will be able to power down the tracks behind the Lehigh Valley Coal #126. Participants will enjoy a full half hour running the engine (with supervision of a qualified engineer) and take home a certificate and a souvenir engine crew hat.

Hank the Tank Engine returns to the Heart of Dixie! Flagg Coal Co. #75 will be making several runs through the picturesque countryside each day of the first two weekends in May, 2014.

Walkersville Southern Railroad
All Aboard ! Lehigh Valley Coal Co. 126 will be coming to the Monocacy Valley for three exciting weekends running on the Walkersville Southern Railroad. Ride in vintage 1920s passenger cars or on an open flatcar as the steam excursion chugs past a 100-year-old lime kiln, and then out into picturesque Maryland farm country.

Flagg Coal Co. #75 will make his first ever visit to the Tennessee Central Railway Museum for one weekend only, May 31-June 1, 2014.

Steam Railroading Institute
Flagg Coal Co. #75 and Lehigh Valley Coal Co. #126 will be providing “Hand on the Throttle” experiences throughout the Expo as well as steamed-up displays and other activities as needed. The Gramling Locomotive Works’ third tank engine, Jeddo Coal Co. #85, is scheduled for his debut runs, assuming his restoration is completed. Hank and Sadie are looking forward to welcoming Mack to the rails!
